It´s in his KISS...

Yes, it´s in his kiss. Never been outside the U.S. before he became president. Loads of bad press in Europe. Ridiculed by David Letterman every night on the telly. The axis of evil. War in Iraq. So what? He still loves his Scottie Barney enough to give him a little kiss! Makes me think of another great song (no, not Julie Andrews again). Cher´s Shoop shoop song, - a great tune from the sound track from her brilliant film Mermaids.

THE AGE OF innocence...

...What did I tell you: No pants.

What did I tell you: No pants. Some times things are better left unsaid. To translate a saying directly from Norwegian: One picture can tell more that one thousand words. That said; you are more than welcome to leave comments on this blog!

Scotties in CORALINE

Did you miss the film Caroline last year? It´s written by the Brit Neil Gaiman, and adapted to film by the American Henry Selick. The story´s protagonist is called Caroline, and much like the children in C. S. Lewis´ Narnia she has access to "another world". Miss April Spink and Miss Miriam Forcible are a pair of retired actresses, who live in the flat under Coraline's. They own many ageing Scotties, and talk in theater jargon, often refering to their time as actresses. They also have Scotties in the "other world". Read the book or buy the DVD!

The HIGH ROAD...

....not to Scotland, but to the Back Yarrrrrrrd! FOR Å STARTE FILMEN!

Possibly the worlds most famous Scottie (pre-Sadie!), the fictive Jock out of the Disney film "Lady and the Tramp". Jock is portrayed totally in-character thoughout the film - honorable and wise. Often wondered about which coat colour the cartoonists meant Jock to be. Silver brindle? Press the arrow on the bottom left to start the film!

TYPICALLY NORWEGIAN, spot the difference...

Norwegian artist´s favoured subject in years gone by has been the (infamous) Moose in Sunset-motif. You can still see them hanging on many a drawing room wall in Norwegian OAP´s homes. Personally I´d never go for anything else but the much more subtle Scottie in Sunset. Harder to find though, that´s why I had to make one myself.

Why TATLER?

På engelsk betyr dessuten ordet Tatle: Report another's wrongdoing. Eksempel: He never tattled or told tales. Eller: I would tattle on her whenever I had hard evidence.

Those of you living in the UK will know what the TATLER is already. For those of you who don’t: The name, which has inspired the title of this blog, is from the society magazine bearing the same name. Richard Steele founded the Tatler magazine in 1709. The current incarnation was founded in 1901 and is a glossy magazine published by Condé Nast. It focuses on the glamorous lives and lifestyles of the upper classes. I think the name is quite appropriate for a Scottie blog.

I FEEL A SONG coming on...

...the hills are alive with the sound of music synger Julie Andrews i filmen "Sound of Music" der hun spiller guvernanten til alle de små østeriske von Trapp-barna. Majestetiske fjell, majestetiske hunder!

On my summer hols this year to one of the most picturesque spots in Norway, Lofoten, I felt a song coming on many a time. Julie Andrew’s; The hills are alive with the sound of music. Naturally my three Scotties joined in on their (and my!) first trip north of the Polar circle. Awe-inspiring mountains, and dogs.

THE SCOTTIE, a fabulous little dog...

...that in actual fact isn´t little at all in any sense of the word, which is something that everyone who has owned a Scottie already knows.
Last year only nine Scotties were born in Norway. I bought one of them, which is something I´ll get back to in a blog later. With this blog I hope to raise the general interest, and knowledge, of the breed in this country. I intend to publish something every week, and even though some of the entries will be specific to Norway, perhaps they will be of interest to Scottie-lovers in other countries as well. If you like you can register as a follower of my blog by clicking on the icon directly under the blog site logo.
